MEET

“I stand FOR what I stand ON: The Skagit. I don’t have other loyalties.

Hello, I’m Peter Browning, and I am running for re-election as County Commissioner - District 2.

I grew up in the 1960s just north of Skagit County on a small organic farm in the Nooksack Valley. I deeply understand the way of life we are working to protect.

I’m a WSU graduate with a Master’s Degree in Anthropology. I’ve started, operated and sold businesses, but I’ve spent much of my career as a public health professional.

I played a crucial role in our region’s response to the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, and served as Skagit County’s Public Health Director for 18 years. I served as Executive Director of the Burlington Edison Chamber of Commerce and currently serve as a Skagit Regional Health Commissioner.

In 2020, I was elected to the Board of Skagit County Commissioners.

My health and business background brings a unique perspective to the board. I’ve served on the boards of Skagit Rotary, United Way of Skagit County, Northwest Incident Command, United General Hospital Quality Control Team, and the Skagit County Substance Abuse board.

I live in Skagit County with my wife, Laurel Browning, and we have a son and a daughter. Laurel was the Superintendent of Burlington-Edison School District for 15 years, from which she recently retired.

We chose the Skagit Valley to raise our two kids, and have lived here for over 30 years. Your support is essential to help me continue serving and improving our community.

Please vote for me, Peter Browning, and join us in making Skagit County an even better place to live!
